Ridazz,
I’ve been invited to write once a week for an LA Times Blog on green living: Emerald City. Thanks Siel! I’ll be writing articles about bike culture, biking in LA, and bike activism for the uninitiated. You, my readers, are already initiated, so I wonder if you’d be interested in what I’m writing over there? Maybe not. Maybe yes.
Please take this poll. Continue Reading »

Friends, tell me now, who is Chet? SRSLY.
Friends of the Friendless 2 was an epic revelation of a ride, so I split it into two posts. EPIC. Read the other one! Oh, and guess what? Friends of the Friendless #3, this Thursday, Bikerowave, 9pm!
Let’s synopsisize. Friends of the Friendless is a Cub Camp spin off. We ride around town looking for lone cyclists. When we meet one we chant “One of Us, One of US!” and ride with them to their destination. On the way tales are told, hijinks are had, and friends are made. This ride is the universal panacea for no friends disease.
The previous post left off with us at 7-11, wondering at the location of Chet. Christina, a lone rider who joined us, didn’t seem to know his location, nor did anyone else:

Midnight Ridazz: Mother of All Rides was last week and it was fun. A lot of hundreds of humans rode their bikes in unison through Hollywood while chasing cyclists dressed as eggs in the most unorthodox East Egg hunt ever. These wild Ridazz went through the Grove (once around 10pm, then again at midnight), cruised through Continue Reading »

While everybody was out drinking themselves into a green oblivion Monday night, seven members of the Bike Writers Collective (BWC) were having “wholesome sober” fun attending the East Hollywood Neighborhood Council. The Council adopted the Cyclists’ Bill of Rights in full, leaving the bloggers of the Bike Writers Collective giddy. Continue Reading »

C.R.A.N.K. Mob is Saturday!!!!! The greatest F.U.N. force known to CRANK Mob are the Cubs of Cub Camp, but from the Eastside comes the #2 FUN clique in town: T.W.B.G. - the TrenWay Bike Gang. TrenWay will be giving up their status as #2, as the arrival of my brother Austin knocks the Cubs down to the #2 slot. So, to honor the TrenWay Bike Gang’s loss of status, I offer you:
The top Tren Ways to Get YOUR cRaNk MOb On!!

March’s Santa Monica Critical Mass was the 38th SMCM, and followed a successful 3rd Anniversary ride in February. In pre-ride announcements a SaMoHi student, Alec, shared his story of getting his ticket repealed. Then we had 60 seconds of silence in honor of a cyclist killed in the Valley on last Wednesday, followed by whoops and applause for lifetime of cycling.

Ummm, who is Chet?
Friends of the Friendless might be the greatest ride concept ever. “Impossible!” you say. Maybe, but srsly you guys, hear me out. (read this? read part 2!)
Friends of the Friendless 2 left from Bikerowave last Thursday at 9pm, and twenty odd riders rode aimlessly around West LA. Here’s the concept: every time we encounter a cyclist riding alone we turn the ride around, and ride with them to their destination. We’re the Friends of the Friendless! Continue Reading »

I recently wrote a piece for CICLE entitled “bicycle advocacy, FAIL. Bike Activism, WANT.” I ticked off a bunch of people and started a roaring debate about strategies in bike activism. I’m glad, because we need to have that debate.
Blogger Vance Longwell was displeased with me for different reasons than most posters. To solve a literary issue, my article used feminine pronouns to describe the proactive Bike Activist, and masculine pronouns to describe the forlorn bicycle advocate. That ticked off Vance’s meta ultra pro anti politically correct sense of justice, and he made it known: Continue Reading »
